It’s one of the first things people ask when they’re new to Scentsy: how long will one bar actually last? The short answer is about 50 to 80 hours of warming time per bar. The longer answer depends on the fragrance, your room and how many cubes you melt at once. Here’s what to expect, and how to make every bar go further.
How Long Does a Scentsy Bar Last?
Scentsy doesn’t print an hour count on the package. Going by what consultants and longtime customers commonly report, a fresh cube or two gives several hours of strong fragrance, and a full bar typically lasts about 50 to 80 hours of warming time. Bold fragrances tend to land at the top of that range, and soft, airy ones at the bottom.

What Makes a Scentsy Bar Fade Faster
The wax itself doesn’t burn away. A warmer gently melts it, and the fragrance oil slowly releases into the air. When the oil is used up, you’re left with plain melted wax that looks the same but no longer smells. How quickly that happens comes down to a few things:
- The fragrance. Scentsy notes that every fragrance has its own “scent throw,” based on its fragrance oils. Gourmand and spice scents often fill a room quickly, while light florals and clean scents are more subtle.
- Your space. Weather, humidity, air vents and even elevation can change how strong a scent seems. A warmer in a big open room or next to a vent has to work harder.
- How many cubes you use. Melting a whole bar at once is very strong at first but doesn’t last longer. One or two cubes at a time is plenty for most warmers.
- Your warmer. A worn-out bulb runs cooler and may not melt the wax fully, which weakens the fragrance. Using the right wattage bulb for your warmer matters.
- How long it runs. Leaving a warmer on all day uses up the fragrance faster than a few hours each evening.
How to Make Your Scentsy Wax Last Longer
Use the number of cubes stamped on your warmer dish. Smaller warmers need just one cube, and most full-size warmers need two at most.
Turn your warmer off when you leave the house or go to bed. It’s safer, and it saves fragrance for when you’re home to enjoy it.
Keep unused cubes in their clamshell, away from heat and sunlight, so the fragrance stays fresh until you need it.
Replace dim or burned-out bulbs with the wattage your warmer calls for, like a 20-watt or 25-watt bulb 3-pack, so the wax melts completely.
How to Tell When to Swap Your Cubes
Because the wax doesn’t shrink as the fragrance fades, the easiest test is your nose. If you walk into the room and can’t smell it, or you have to lean over the warmer to notice anything, it’s time for fresh cubes.
To swap, turn off your warmer and let the wax cool and harden. Most cooled wax pops right out of the dish in one piece. Wipe away any film with a paper towel, then add new cubes. Never move or tip a warmer while the wax is melted, because melted wax is hot.
Want to change scents more often? Many people melt a single cube for a lighter fragrance and swap more frequently, so they can enjoy more scents from the same bar.

Frequently Asked Questions
How many hours does one Scentsy cube last?
A cube or two typically gives several hours of strong fragrance. It depends on the scent, your room and your warmer, so the best guide is when you stop noticing the fragrance.
How many Scentsy cubes should I use?
Follow the number stamped on your warmer dish. Smaller warmers usually need one cube, and full-size warmers need two at most.
Does Scentsy wax evaporate?
No. The fragrance oil releases into the air, but the wax stays behind. That’s why used wax looks the same as fresh wax but no longer smells.
Can I leave my Scentsy Warmer on all the time?
Scentsy recommends turning your warmer off when you leave the house or go to sleep. Doing that also makes each bar last longer.
Why can’t I smell my Scentsy Bar anymore?
Either the fragrance in those cubes is used up, or your warmer’s bulb may be worn out and not melting the wax fully. Try fresh cubes first, then check the bulb.
